Atos Origin sells division Technical Automation which joins TASK24

Amsterdam, Utrecht - Atos Origin is to sell its Dutch Technical Automation (TA) department to Gilde on 31 December 2008. TA will join forces with TASK24 to become a major player in the field of technical automation in the Netherlands. Both parties have signed a letter of intent and agreed not to disclose the amount involved with the transaction.The sale by Atos Origin has been prompted by the fact that TA is not one of Atos Origin’s core activities. Following a careful and comprehensive selection process, it found in TASK24, backed by Gilde, a party with technical automation as its core business for whom taking over Atos Origin TA’s division represents a strategic expansion. For TA and TASK24, the joining of forces presents a unique opportunity to gain a prominent position within the technical automation market in a single move.
TA division specialises in designing software for integrated products and systems of leading companies in the healthcare, industrial production, transport and aviation sectors and is currently the third largest in the technical automation market. It has 220 employees working at two locations in Utrecht and Eindhoven. All its employees will move to TASK24 where their conditions of employment will remain the same.
Philip van Blanken, who is to be the CEO of the new group said: “After the autonomisation of TASK24 - formerly Ordina Technical Automation - also made possible by Gilde, the addition of TA represents a crucial step towards achieving our growth target.
