Coldec is the world’s largest supplier of coloured (paint) flakes (or chips) that are used as a decorative component in wall, ceiling and floor coverings. Through continuous investments in new technologies and product variants, Coldec has for years occupied a strong position in its market. In addition to colourflakes, Coldec also offers a unique range of high-quality decorative products for use in both the professional and consumer markets. Its most important sales markets are Germany and France, supported by sales in the Benelux and Nordic regions.

Development
In 1996 the management and GEM Benelux acquired the company from the founders by means of a management buyout. GEM Benelux supports Coldec in the further expansion of its market position. Since the MBO, a number of competitors have entered the market, but Coldec has succeeded in managing its leading position in the market.

In 2008 GEM Benelux sold its stake to the incumbent CEO.
