Evers Specials
Evers Specials is the largest producer of bean sprouts in Europe, with a 40% market share it's home market in The Netherlands. Evers benefits from a highly effective and efficient growing method by which the climate is constantly optimized to the germination of the beans. The fresh bean sprouts are then processed for use in a variety of products including frozen products, dried products, fresh bean sprouts, canned products and snack and convenience foods. The Chinese food market is particularly important for Evers and it also exports to Belgium, France, Germany (its largest export market), Scandinavia, Spain and the UK.
Evers Specials was part of the UK company Hazlewood International from 1987 until May 2000 when the company passed via a management buyout into the hands of the management and GEM Benelux. The management buyout and the capital injection of GEM Benelux has enabled Evers Specials to accelerate its investments in production capacity expansion and efficiency improvements. GEM Benelux has supported Evers Specials’ expansion strategy abroad which has seen an increase in sales in a/o the UK and Germany. In 2006 a strategic add-on acquisition was made to solidify Evers' leading market position. After successful integration of the acquired TKB, Gilde sold its stake in Evers to the management late 2007.
