De Banketgroep is the largest producer and marketer of pastry and waffle products in the Netherlands. The company’s extensive product range includes caramel waffles, soft waffles and a large assortment of other long-(shelf) life confectionary products, which are marketed under a wide variety of brands (a/o Kanjers, Buys) and private label. The products are sold to the Dutch retail and foodservice channels, as well as export markets globally. The company employs around 410 people.

Development
In July 2007 GEM Benelux acquired Bakkersland Banket through a management buy out from Bakkersland Groep. Shortly after closing Van der Breggen was acquired in line with our strategy to act as a consolidator in the Dutch confectionary market. Together with the renewed management team further add-on acquisitions will be pursued, while the current business will be refocused around key product categories. These categories will be produced in dedicated bakeries and embedded in a “lean and mean” organizational structure. Furthermore, significant investments are foreseen in new product development and innovation projects.
