Hamal Signature is active in the production and marketing of private label and branded spreadable salads, such as fish and chicken salads, which are spread on bread and toasts. The company is market leader in Belgium with an overall market share in the spreadable salad market of around 50%. The salads are distributed through the supermarket, out-of-home and traditional channels. Salads are marketed under the Delio, Hamal, VH Signature and Johma brand as well as under private label. Hamal Signature was formerly known as Uniq Belgium and acquired by GEM Benelux and management from UK listed Uniq Plc in November 2006.Key attributes of Hamal Signature are its market leadership and widespread presence in all distribution channels, which can be leveraged for further growth, a state-of-the-art factory and a professional organizational set-up.
A senior management team with broad food experiences has been installed and has successfully managed the transition to an independent company. The strategic goal of Hamal Signature is to solidify and grow its market leading position in its Belgian home-market. The company pursues this goal by a strong customer focus and the continuous development of new and high quality “artisanale” products for the local market. Since acquisition significant expansion investments have been made in the factory. Recently the new brand Delio was launched offering premium salads to the retail market / consumer. Further investments in the organization / personnel to support the growth strategy of the company are foreseen.
